ADVANCED INTELLIGENT BRAKING SYSTEM (AIBS) The new AK 550 Premium is equipped with advanced cornering (lean-sensitive) anti-lock brake system. AIBS elevates safety to another level by incorporating a bank angle sensor to constantly regulate brake force applied on each wheel during cornering, when traction is already at its limit. LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION Every component is engineered with the aim of achieving maximum strength with minimum weight. The lightweight aluminium frame provides the rigidity necessary for spirited riding. The lightweight radial tyres and the hollow-designed low-pressure die-casting aluminium wheels further reduce the unsprung weight. STRATEGIC CENTER OF GRAVITY PLACEMENT The AK 550 Premium has the lowest centre of gravity in its class. All body components have been engineered to deliver a vehicle with a near 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution for perfect balance. This strategic placement of the centre of gravity provides the most solid foundation to pursue ultimate handling capability. UPSIDE-DOWN FORK Inverted front forks paired with dual Brembo brakes keeps this maxi-scooter agile and stable during cornering and delivers superior stopping power whenever needed. HORIZONTAL TRAILING ARM REAR SUSPENSION Three-stage reducer technology separates the weight of the engine from the transmission, reducing the unsprung weight of the rear suspension, which helps keep the rear wheel firmly planted to the ground. POWERFUL 550CC DUAL CYLINDER ENGINE The 550cc parallel-twin cylinder, DOHC, 8-valve. liquid-cooled engine produces a silky smooth and highly responsive power curve. Its 37.5kW maximum output generates brisk acceleration as well as impressive top speed. The power delivery is tuned to suit both spirited adventures as well as pleasant touring. TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM The system operates ever so smoothly and naturally that it does not interfere with the scooter’s handling, even when the rider wishes to engage in aggressive riding. DUAL POWER MODES Equipped with the choice between two power modes for the riders to enjoy every journey, regardless of the conditions. Other than the normal “Full Power” setting, the “Rain Mode” provides the rider with milder power output and softer throttle response that is best suited to wet surfaces with poor grip. LOW SEAT HEIGHT The low 785mm seat height provides comfortable ergonomics for riders of all sizes. Moreover, it keeps the whole centre of gravity low when the rider is on board. The lower riding position not only gives the rider more confidence when manoeuvring, but it also enhances the whole riding experience. PRACTICAL STORAGE SPACE The capacious underseat storage compartment is capable of storing one full-face helmet and one open-face helmet*, striking the perfect balance between the need for large storage space for extended journeys, whilst being compact enough for spirited riding. There are also two glove compartments for storing smaller items. *Certain helmet shapes may not fit in the underseat storage compartment.
